SUSTAINABLE SERENITY: THE WORK OF GIORGIO ARMANI

There is a unique contemporary loyalty to powers given scope by fashion, with the collaboration between the devoted publisher, Franco Maria Ricci, and designers of haute couture, in particular, Giorgio Armani. Ricci's 1982 (numbered) publication, ARMANI , comprises over 200 serigraphic renderings (on hand-made paper by Fabriano) of the maestro's designs for women's fashions, and the commentary by Richard de Combray. The latter situates Armani's work within a design tradition resolved "to edge us toward another border" by means of a "narrative" repertoire whereby the garment induces the wearer to increased coherence or "harmony" with her sensuous assets.
